Kim Wilson  *06.01.1951

Kim Wilson (* 6.

Kim Wilson (born January 6, 1951) is an American blues singer and harmonica player. He is best known as the lead vocalist and frontman for The Fabulous Thunderbirds on two hit songs of the 1980s; "Tuff Enuff",[1] and "Wrap It Up."
Career
Wilson was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951,[2] but he grew up in Goleta, California, where he sometimes went by the stage name of "Goleta Slim." He started with the blues in the late 1960s and was tutored by people like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, Eddie Taylor, Albert Collins, George "Harmonica" Smith, Luther Tucker and Pee Wee Crayton and was influenced by harmonica players like Little Walter, James Cotton, Big Walter Horton, Slim Harpo and Lazy Lester. Before he moved to Austin, Texas in 1974, he was the leader of the band Aces, Straights and Shuffles in Minneapolis, Minnesota; this band released one single. In Austin he formed The Fabulous Thunderbirds with guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, and they became the house band at the blues club, Antone's, owned by Clifford Antone. Muddy Waters called Wilson, "The greatest harmonica player since Little Walter".
Wilson continues to perform up to 300 concert dates per year at blues music festivals and clubs all over the world, both as leader of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and with the Kim Wilson Blues Allstars.
His powerful style of blues harp playing has been described as "loaded with the textures of a full-blown horn section."

Henry "Gip" Gipson (born January 6, unknown year, in Uniontown, Perry County) is a former railroad car builder, the owner of the Pine Hill Cemetery and the proprietor of Gip's Place, a blues joint located in the back yard of his home on Avenue C in Bessemer.
Gipson worked at the Pullman Standard plant in Bessemer for 25 years before leaving to become a grave digger. He eventually purchased the Pine Hill Cemetery and continues to operate it himself.
An avid blues fan and part-time musician, Gipson began hosting barbecues in his back yard for musicians to entertain friends and neighbors. The weekend events grew in popularity and he gradually added a small enclosure with a stage. Lenny Madden built the garage that now houses Gip's Place. Gipson and Jeff Dunaway keep up with maintenance and repairs on the juke joint.

Guitar Slim, Jr. (born Rodney Glynn Armstrong, 1951, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States) is an American New Orleans blues guitarist and singer. Over his lengthy playing career, Slim Jr., has worked with various blues musicians. His debut album, Story of My Life (1988), was nominated for a Grammy Award.
His father was the noted blues performer, Guitar Slim, best known for the million-selling song, "The Things That I Used to Do", that was listed in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.[2]
Guitar Slim, Jr., has worked for many years around the New Orleans blues club circuit, and his repertoire became more reliant on his father's material.[3] His debut album recorded in 1988, Story of My Life, was nominated in 1989 for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.[1] However, New Orleans historian Jeff Hannusch, stated on the sleeve notes for that album that Slim, Jr., "has been a fixture on the black New Orleans club circuit for the better part of 20 years...[but] doesn't get to play the posher uptown clubs."[1]
Slim, Jr., toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan in the late 1980s, and remained a friend until the latter's death in 1990. [4] Slim's 1996 release, Nothing Nice, featured the Memphis Horns.[5]
Slim's most recent recorded work was the 2010 album release, Brought Up The Hardway.[4]
He played at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2011.

Lester Davenport  *06.01.1932

Lester "Mad Dog" Davenport (* 6. Januar 1932 in Tchula, Mississippi; † 17.

Lester "Mad Dog" Davenport (January 16, 1932 – March 17, 2009),[1] was an American Chicago blues harmonica player and singer.
Born in Tchula, Mississippi, United States, Davenport moved from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois, when he was 14. There he played with Arthur Spires, Snooky Pryor, and Homesick James, then worked with Bo Diddley, with whom he played harmonica on a 1955 Chess Records session.[2] He led his own group in the 1960s while he worked during the day as a paint sprayer. In the 1980s he was the harmonica player for the Indiana group The Kinsey Report.[2]
In July 1994, Wolf Records released the Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis album, Chicago Blues Session, Vol. 11, the tracks of which Davis had recorded in 1988 and 1989. The collection included Davenport on harmonica, and Kansas City Red playing the drums.[3]
Davenport released his first album under his own name in 1992 and recorded a follow-up in 2002.
Davenport died in March 2009 in Chicago, from prostate cancer, at the age of 77.

Gerrit Veldman  *06.01.1968

The Vaughan Brothers, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Smith, the Fabulous Thunderbirds prägen ihren Musikstil.

The Veldman Brothers are the ultimate example of the Brotherhood of the Blues.
The band is centered around two brothers: Gerrit on (slide) guitar and Bennie on Organ, keys, harmonica and vocals, and they have been playing the Blues circuit for some time now and with considerable success -- in 2011 they received the award for Best Band from The Dutch Blues Foundation and that is only one of many awards and nominations that have come their way during the years.

Unbridled energy combined with clear enthusiasm in their playing results in a tangible synergy that is pure Blues straight from the heart.
Passionate musicians with a wealth of experience influenced both by themselves and by the 'Greats of the Past' : The Vaughan Brothers, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Elmore James, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Smith, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and many more.
The Veldman Brothers follow these Giants with extreme respect playing both covers as well as their own original material all of which are performed to perfection in their very own characteristic 'sound'.
The Brothers are at home whether it's a large Festival or at small venues and have knocked the socks off/given killer shows* at most of the well known Blues-clubs and larger venues.

Blues. Rhythm & Blues, Swing Blues, Delta Blues, Blues with just a touch of Rock, Soul or Funk: The Veldman Brothers recognise no labels except " Pure and straight from the Heart".

Blues & Roots: Straight from the heart!

Hambone Willie Newbern  *1899  +1947 *

Hambone Willie Newbern (1899–1947)[1] was an American guitar-playing country blues musician.[2] His home community was in the Brownsville, Tennessee area along Tennessee State Route 19.[3] He was reported to have played with Yank Rachell and Sleepy John Estes (from whom most of our knowledge of Hambone was gained) in the 1920s and 1930s.[1] He recorded one of the earliest known versions of the blues standard "Rollin' and Tumblin'" in 1929. He only recorded six tracks in total, which also included, "She Could Toodle-Oo" and "Hambone Willie's Dreamy-Eyed Woman's Blues."[1]

Newbern was a hot-tempered man who eventually was beaten to death in a prison brawl, around 1947.
