http://mattizwoo.blogspot.de/2013/12/matej-ptaszek.html

Raful Neal *06.06.1936
Raful Neal (* 6. Juni 1936 in Baton Rouge; † 1.

Raful Neal (June 6, 1936 – September 1, 2004[1]) was an American, Louisiana blues singer, harmonicist and songwriter.[2]
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and reared by his aunt and uncle on a tenant farm in Chamberlin, West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States, Neal began playing the harmonica at age 14. He played with Buddy Guy in a band called the Clouds. His first record, "Sunny Side of Love" (1958) on Peacock Records, was not successful.[1]
Neal's first album, called Louisiana Legend, was initially issued by King Snake Records and later by Alligator Records in 1990. His 1991 album I Been Mistreated was released on Ichiban Records. Neal toured globally. In 1997 his harmonica playing was featured on the album Live: Swampland Jam by Tab Benoit. Neal's album Old Friends was issued in 1998.

Jean Marx Santel *06.06.
THE JEAN MARX EXPRESS aus New York City, San Diego und Haiti
New York City has given birth to outstanding and creative individuals in the music industry. The Jean Marx Express is just that, Outstanding Gifted and creatively musical. Coming together in 2010 after taking a short hiatus from other projects, The Jean Marx Express or JME as some will name for short, needed to play together like a baby needs its mother.
As proven with their previous band RED LOTUS, Guitarist/Lead Vocal - Jean Marx Santel, Bassist - Aalics Bronson, have fully taken influences of Rock and Soul to Funk and Punk creating a melding mix of Musical Art, and have filtered them all through their own unique perspectives. The resulting musical brew is a true feast for the senses, blending bold Zepplin-inspred strident guitar power, lyrical and emotive vocals, and cutting-edge southern funk mayhem into a swirling cauldron of bubbling rock reactants. This is music that stands head and shoulders above today's field of cookie-cutter rock practitioners.
Say the name a few times and remember this rock trio, cause when they get started on stage, jaws begin to drop and they artfully win you over with their hard grooving super-energetic show.

Sena Ehrhardt has emerged as one of the freshest and most dynamic emerging young voices on the blues scene today. As the buzz about her incendiary performances at clubs and festivals spreads, heavyweight acts have begun to take notice. She’s been invited to open concerts for B.B. King, ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Dickey Betts, Johnny Winter and Gregg Allman. Her latest release, Live My Life, further confirms Sena’s ascendance to blues elite status.
Sena was born and raised in a house of blues in the Minneapolis area. As a kid her parents took her to many all-ages concerts and she was able to see artists like B.B. King, Koko Taylor and the Fabulous Thunderbirds wow their audiences with polished and exciting performances. As she grew older young artists like Jonny Lang and Susan Tedeschi gained success, putting young, contemporary faces to the music she loved.
A pivotal moment for Sena was attending one of Luther Allison’s final concerts. As she describes it, “As the sun went down and the lights came up, the emotion of his voice washed over the crowd like a wave, leaving me with tears in my eyes. His ability to connect through music with every member of that audience, each with their own stories, struggles and victories, was stunning to witness. In that moment the idea of being a singer ceased to be a choice for me and instead became a calling.”
After graduating from college in 2005, Sena began singing with Plan B, her father’s band, which led to her desire to front her own group. In 2010 she started the Sena Ehrhardt Band.
In 2011 Blind Pig released her brilliant debut recording, Leave The Light On, and the critics and fans alike took immediate notice. Blues Revue said, “From track to track, Ehrhardt establishes that she is capable of crooning softly or wailing with the best of them.” Living Blues added, “Sena Ehrhardt has a bright, soulful sound, and she doesn’t hold back – she can go from sultry and coaxing to gritty and gutsy in an instant.”
Elmore commented, “A wicked sense of soul power. Ehrhardt creates an atmosphere of lamp-light jazz club, diva-esque swagger through effortless vocal bends and brassy, wrapped-around-her-finger inflections that will have the listener hanging on every word.” The album won the Blues Blast Music Award for “Best New Artist Debut Release” and was nominated for a Blues Music Award in that same category.
For her second recording, All In, released in 2013, Sena teamed up with one the foremost producers in the worlds of rock and blues (Santana, Luther Allison, Stevie Ray Vaughan), multi-Grammy Award winner Jim Gaines. The result of their collaboration is a groove-rich, exciting exploration of the blues in all its moods.
Calling her “truly one of the most dynamic young voices any genre has seen in a long time,” Living Blues said, “Her 2011 debut was a bold statement in cabaret-blues silken gloss. Whereas her debut can be seen as walking into the club and feeling the crowd, on this effort, Ehrhardt owns the joint. Sena Ehrhardt’s voice cannot get any more powerful, range-defying, and throwback cool.” Sena was just announced as a 2014 Living Blues Award nominee in the “Blues Artist of the Year (Female)” category.
With her newest release, Live My Life, Sena continues to forge her own personal and intelligent take on the blues. Says Sena, “Live My Life is such a fitting title for my new release. The last year has been one of tremendous growth and inspiration for me both personally and professionally through music.” For one thing, she’s excited about an all-new lineup of top-flight musicians she recruited to her Band. After serving as her band’s lead guitarist and songwriting collaborator through her first two releases, Sena’s father stepped aside earlier this year and she’s formed a dynamic and energetic new Band.
With the new band behind her, Sena’s looking forward to exciting opportunities on the horizon to play more festivals nationally and begin touring internationally, as she continues to come into her own as a vocalist, songwriter and entertainer.
“Working in the studio with producer David Z. at the helm was a dream come true. His catalog of work has been, in some ways, a soundtrack of my life – ranging from Prince to Jonny Lang. I was thrilled that David, who has strong ties to Minnesota, was able to come to my home state to record my album. In the studio he brought inspired and emotional performances out of myself, my band and the guest musicians on my album. It was truly an honor to work with a creative and contemporary living legend in music.”
“The carefully selected covers are songs that I have held dear to my heart for years, with my own spin on their classic stories and appeal. The process of writing for this album along with my guitarist, Cole Allen, was incredibly rewarding.”
With her commanding stage presence, and gritty, soulfully emotional vocal prowess, Sena Ehrhardt will continue to rank among the very best and most versatile of current blues vocalists. The journey’s just beginning for this artist, but with the release of Live My Life, her expressive songwriting, and outstanding performances, the recognition and accolades for this rising star will continue to amass.

Jochen Volpert *06.06.1963

Malaya Blue *06.06.
Malaya Blue is undoubtedly the major breakthrough artist on the UK Blues circuit this year. She was heavily tipped to do just that following her storming sets at The Great British Rock & Blues Festival at Skegness in January and the confirmation is an almost unprecedented four separate nominations from The British Blues Association for their 2015 Awards in the categories of Female Vocalist, Best Album, Blues Song and the Barry Middleton Award for Emerging Artist. In addition Malaya has been named as a contender to represent the UK in the 2016 European Blues Challenge.
Debut album Bourbon Street reached No1 on the British Independent Blues Broadcasters monthly charts and the track Bitter Moon was chosen by The Blues & Soul Show as their track of 2014. The Blues Matters Writers Poll voted Malaya into second spot in their Best Newcomer section.
Recent Double A Side single ‘Hope’ and ‘Let’s Reinvent (Love)’ was recorded at The Grange Studio with Paul Long as producer and has quickly achieved lots of radio airplay including Radio 2 where Malaya fan and legendary presenter Paul Jones closed his show with it.
Although Malaya may be relatively new to the live blues circuit she has many years of recording and studio work under her belt and a truly stunning voice and collection of top class original material. Her live band is made up of Simon Dring (drums) BBA winner in 2010 and formerly with Oli Brown and Billy Walton Band, Dudley Ross on guitar is one of the British Blues scenes most respected performers with a hugely impressive CV, Stuart Uren, most famous as bassist for Stray and many others, Andy Cooper on Hammond who has performed with Todd Sharpeville, Matt Taylor and Earl Green among others and are often joined by Phil Marshall (sax) . Live shows have included guest appearances by some of the country’s most admired musicians including Dudley Ross, Will Johns, Steve Watts, John Altman and Stuart Uren.
Recent media coverage has included full interviews in Blues Matters, Classic Rock Blues, Blues In Britain, R2R magazine and Grapevine Live.
Malaya is working hard on writing the follow up album to Bourbon Street and the early indications are that this will catapult her into a much higher level of recognition with early interest already being shown from Europe and the U.S.A.

Calvin Leavy +06.06.2010

Er hatte mehrere Folgesingles auf Soul Beat – Give Me A Love (That I Can Feel), It Hurts Me Too, das zweiteilige Goin' To The Dogs, Is It Worth All (That I'm Going Through), It's Too Early In the Morning, Big Four, What Kind Of Love und das frohlockende Free From Cummins Prison Farm sowie Nothing But Your Love auf Acquarian –, aber Calvin kam nie wieder in die Charts. Bill Dahl aus PLUG IT IN! TURN IT UP! Electric Blues 1939-2005 - The Definitive Collection! - "Plug It In! Turn It Up!

Calvin Leavy (April 20, 1940 – June 6, 2010) was an African American soul blues and electric blues singer and guitarist.[1][2] He had a hit single in 1970, when "Cummins Prison Farm" peaked at number 40 on the US Billboard R&B chart, and stayed in the chart for five weeks.[3] More locally, it was number one on the chart of the Memphis, Tennessee based radio station, WDIA.[1]
Later in his life, Leavy became the first person indicted under the 1988 Drug Kingpin Law, and he subsequently died in prison.[1]
Biography
Calvin James Leavy was born in Scott, Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. He was the youngest son of fifteen children, and started singing in his church choir. By his adolescence, Leavy sang with various gospel ensembles in Little Rock. He formed the Leavy Brothers Band in 1954, and they were popular locally, before relocating to Fresno, California. By the end of 1968, they moved back to Little Rock, and played at local clubs. Through this work, Leavy was offered recording time in E&M Studios in Little Rock. As well as a cover version of "Tennessee Waltz", the group recorded the song "Cummins Prison Farm", which was written by Bill Cole. Leavy used the prison experiences of one of his brothers to expand the lyrical content.[1] It was originally issued on Soul Beat Records, and underwent subsequent national distribution via Blue Fox Records, that label's first release.[4] "Cummins Prison Farm", reached number 40 on the Billboard R&B chart.[3] Recorded in one take, it was one of 27 blues based songs that reached the R&B chart in 1970.[1]
Leavy recorded further singles for Aquarian, Soul Beat, Downtown and Messenger Records.[5] These included "Nothing But Your Love", "Give Me a Love (That I Can Feel)" and "Goin’ to the Dogs Pt. 1". In addition, the band made some recordings for the Arkansas Bicentennial Blues Project, which were archived at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. They also appeared in 1977 at the Beale Street Music Festival, before disbanding. Forming Calvin Leavy and the Professionals, he and his new outfit remained popular locally. They recorded "Is It Worth All (That I'm Going Through)", "Big Four", "What Kind of Love", "Free From Cummins Prison Farm", and the prophetic "If Life Last Luck Is Bound to Change". However, further national chart success eluded him.[1] Nevertheless, he maintained a strong fan base in the South, and his records often appeared on local jukeboxes.[5]
Cummins Prison, both the inspiration for Leavy's only national hit record, and his later 'residence'
In 1991, Leavy was charged with making payments to an undercover police officer, and was convicted in July 1992, of multiple drug related offences.[6] He was sentenced to life plus twenty-five years. His imprisonment started at Cummins Prison. By 2004, his sentence was commuted to seventy-five years.[1]
In June 2010, Leavy died at the age of 70 in the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas,[7] having been eligible for parole in eighteen months time.
Later in his life, Leavy became the first person indicted under the 1988 Drug Kingpin Law, and he subsequently died in prison.[1]
